Luck Of The Irish: Another Team Announced For ISA Worlds

Irish SUPTeam announcements for the ISA’s World Championships in Peru are starting to come through thick and fast. We’ve already met paddlers from South Africa, Canada, Great Britain, Mexico, Spain, France, Sweden and Australia. We also know that the USA, Hawaii, Germany, Peru, Chile, New Zealand, Brazil and probably another ten or so countries will announce their lineups in the next week or two.

In the spotlight today is Team Ireland, who return to Peru after being part of the inaugural event in 2012. While the team didn’t win any medals last year, they won plenty of fans with their trademark Irish spirit and humour, so it’s good to see them back again.

Team Ireland also won respect for their unusual SUP training methods in the lead up to last year’s event, which included catching waves whipped up by ferries and doing race training in the dark. I guess there’s just something about those Northern countries

Here’s the full lineup for the luckiest team in the event:

SUP Racers
Johnny O’Hara (Irish American)

SUP Surfers
Katie McAnena (Galway)
Finn Mullen (Causeway Coast Surf Club)
Paul Byrne (East Coast Surf Club)

You’ll be able to follow Team Ireland and every other country competing in Peru from February 24th – March 2nd. SUPracer.com will be on location at the ISA World Champs, so stay tuned for full coverage.
