WATCH: Giant Inflatable SUP Madness In Hawaii
In case you’re the one person on Facebook that hasn’t already seen this clip, here it is.
Everyone’s favourite bizarro pro surfer Jamie O’Brien and friends charging solid waves at Sunset Beach on a ridiculously oversized inflatable SUP board. Sunset isn’t usually a wave you mess around with, but then again JOB doesn’t really do anything by the book.
These guys are riding one of those old “Supsquatch” boards from C4 Waterman (remember them?), the whacky creation that more or less invented the novelty niche of giant inflatable SUPs (which is now a rather popular category).
This clip was actually recorded at Sunset over a month ago (5th Dec) but it’s only really started doing the rounds the past few days.
To give you a better perspective, here’s the front view of the carnage…
…and then there’s this still shot of our fearless band of rapscallions charging through Sunset’s famous inside bowl:
Just to prove this was no one-off, below is a shot of the boys charging Waimea Bay on the Supsquatch. Waimea..!
Waimea is also the spot that produced that crazy inflatable SUP carnage video a few weeks ago (of which Jamie O’Brien was also a part… can you see the recurring theme here?):
No, none of this has anything to do with SUP racing. Hell technically this isn’t even stand up paddling – they’re on their knees using outrigger blades.
So why post it? Because it’s awesome that’s why.
