Extended Highlights from the Japan Cup

Here’s the extended edit from last month’s Japan Cup, featuring highlights from what ended up becoming quite an entertaining affair. A nearby typhoon whipped up a solid swell and sent it straight to the host beach in Chigasaki, which provided that magic ingredient for a good SUP race: Waves.

The Japan Cup was reportedly the biggest ever SUP race in the country’s brief paddling history, and came just two weeks after another major event, the Hayama Pro, which attracted several top international names.

Just last weekend we saw some more classic conditions in Japan, with Travis Grant and Kenny Kaneko battling wild oceans over in Kumano.

Watch the short film above, and then get ready for an even bigger racing season in Japan next year.
