Annabel Anderson Wins Yet Another Trophy, Gives SUP Yet Another Mainstream Promo
As if Annabel Anderson’s trophy cabinet wasn’t full enough already, the Kiwi has gone and won yet another trophy. Or two. This time the awards weren’t from a race though, yet probably did more for her (and the sport’s) image than any SUP podium ever could.
The double-defending BOP champ took out the Sportswoman Of The Year and Overall Sportsperson Of The Year awards at the Central Otago Sports Awards last night. While nobody outside New Zealand has any idea where Otago is, think of it this way: It’s kinda like winning a trophy that says “You’re the best athlete in Southern California, period.”
Not bad. Oh and the competition was only a bunch of Olympians and what not. No biggie.
The triumph comes just a week after Annabel made the national news at home in NZ for her epic Cook Strait crossing. The Starboard Queen (who is also sponsored by Subaru and got a spread in Women’s Day last year) is certainly getting plenty of mainstream exposure these days…
