Candice Appleby, Kai Lenny Win the Hayama pro in Japan

stand up world series japan

Results are in from Japan, where the World Series is holding the second of its four stops this year. The Hayama Pro has attracted an elite little group of the world’s best young (and a few not so young) paddlers, including Kai Lenny, Connor Baxter, Candice Appleby and Fiona Wylde.

This is the first of three big weekends of racing in Japan (perhaps September will become “Japan Month”?), with the Naish Race next weekend, followed by the Japan Cup in two weeks.

Anyway we’ll have a full recap/results/photos later – I’m pushing this post out in the few minutes I have spare this morning, before we begin the next stage of the crazy SUP 11 City Tour here in the Netherlands.

UPDATE: Here are the full results including points for the SUP Racer World Rankings.

The Hayama Pro racked up 25.5% on the women’s Race Index and 35.5% on the men’s, which helped it give the World Rankings Leaderboards a nudge.

Sorry that so many names are missing on the men’s sheet – the official results are almost impossible to read, so I couldn’t quite identify names for a lot of the local paddlers.

There were 71 guys on the start line but I can only ID about 16 names. If organisers would like to update their results with a legible version (or if the World Series would care to update their own rankings table), that would be nice. It’s a shame that all the local guys don’t get credit on the results sheet…
