The 2012 Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge is happening this weekend (Saturday 28th January) at Bonita Cove, San Diego.

California’s finest are expected to lineup for the event, which looks like it’ll be SoCal’s first big stand up paddle race of the year.

The field for the 2011 race was stacked, with Thomas Maximus taking out the Unlimited division ahead of Brian Stockdale and Dane DeBoer. In the stock divisions, Danny Ching beat home Anthony Vela, Matt Becker and Dan Gavere on the stock boards, and Kristina Zur winning the women’s stock class ahead of Maggie Hogan and Brandi Baksic.
