WATCH: Great Highlights Reel From Last Weekend’s 12 Towers

Check out this great highlights reel from last weekend’s 12 Towers Ocean Paddle Festival on the Gold Coast, Australia. The event featured many of the country’s finest paddlers (plus a certain Frenchman who spoiled the party), with the main race being a 14km downwinder from Snapper Rocks to Burleigh Heads.

We had very light winds but still a few good bumps for the race, with the usual suspects sprint off the line and establishing an early lead. In the end it looked like Beau O’Brian would go one better than his 2013 result, however the Frenchman Titouan Puyo had other ideas. The finishing sequence starts at the 4:45 mark and is a good lesson in it ain’t over til it’s over.

This is a very nicely done video that might give the 12 Towers race a bit of buzz overseas and build it into an even bigger event in 2015. Australia has plenty of SUP racing talent but very few big races, something hopefully the 12 Towers can fix in the future.

Watch the vid above and then check out the full 12 Towers race results if you haven’t seen ’em already.
