2013 ISA World Championship Details (It’s Still 12’6″)
UPDATE: More info available >>> 2013 ISA World SUP Champs
Original story:
Details for the 2013 ISA World Stand Up Paddle and Paddleboard Championship are emerging.
The event will run February 24 – March 2 in Miraflores, Peru, the same spot as the 2012 event. The other main point is that the ISA have stuck with 12’6″ for SUP racing, both for the short (“Technical Course”) and long distance (“Marathon Race”) events.
There also seems to be a limit of 2x men and 1x woman per team for the SUP racing events, meaning paddlers will have to double up in both the Technical and Marathon races. Most countries wouldn’t be able to send a huge squad anyway, but the top nations like Australia and the U.S. could easily send short distance/long distance specialists, with paddlers competing in one race each (so there would be 4x men and 2x women racing). However there are still spots for “alternates”, so if a team really wants to mix up their paddlers in the SUP racing events, they probably could.
Official details are below. Check back soon for more info and keep following SUPracer.com for full coverage of the 2013 ISA SUP World Champs.
