Chase Kosterlitz Wins Battle Of The Bay As San Fran Turns It On (UPDATED)

While a bunch of the young guns were duking it out in Huntington this weekend, up in San Fran it was the 4th annual Battle Of The Bay.

Saturday saw the 8.5 mile distance race, which took competitors around the iconic Alcatraz and under the Golden Gate Bridge. Completing the 8.5 mile loop the quickest was Chase Kosterlitz, who came home ahead of his two road trip buddies and Coast Guard rescuees, Arthur Daniel and Belar Diaz. Over on the women’s side it was Canada’s Shannon Bell taking the win ahead of Halie Harrison and Jen Fuller.

Conditions were super choppy and a little wild, despite this being a “relatively calm” day on the Bay.

UPDATE: See some awesome images from Battle of the Bay

On Sunday it was time for the 5 mile “Battle Field” flat water course race. However conditions proved to be anything but flat… Once again it was Chase who proved too strong, with Arthur continuing his good form ahead of the BOP. Tahoe’s Jay Wild came into town for the second day of competition and proceeded to snag a podium spot. Shannon Bell was once again too strong in the women’s, finishing the five mile course a few minutes ahead of Halie.

Results below. Stay tuned for more pics.
