11 Awesome Photos From The Gorge Paddle Challenge
Check out some awesome shots from the 2013 Gorge Paddle Challenge that was held in Hood River, Oregon on the weekend and won by young guns Kody Kerbox and Fiona Wylde.
These pics are from the Course Race on Day Two and include everything from determined faces and fast starts to some very fit athletes and a VERY stoked young lady.
All photos thanks to the excellent Gorge Performance. If you wanna see more action from Hood River you can view their full race gallery on Facebook.
Some determined ladies…
Jenny Kalmbach got off to a flyer in the women’s race and was unlucky not to take the victory
“I think we’re going that way”
The frantic jockeying for position right at the start…
There was even more wind for the course race than there was for the downwinder, which turned day two into an absolute grind for many…
That’s not the All-American Jesus, rather it’s King’s team rider and proud young patriot Brendan Light.
Overall winner Kody Kerbox (who took out the downwinder on day one) led the course race early, before Georges Cronsteadt (seen here in third place) went into turbo mode.
I guess Georges Cronsteadt is in fairly decent shape…

Team SIC always turns a podium into a party
Fiona Wylde collecting the “Happiest Paddler” award… The local surprise packet put in the performance of the weekend to claim the overall women’s title. While the youngster surprised nobody in Hood River by defeating the likes of Candice, Jenny and Andrea, a few racing fans in the wider world are scratching their heads right now. But at just 16 years of age and part of Steve Gates’ local elite junior training squad, you can expect to see Fiona on plenty more podiums in the future.
