Snakes & Ladders: Volatile World Rankings Update after 7 Races Dropped and 3 New Events Added

World Rankings for Stand Up Paddling

As we reach the halfway point of the year, there’s been a major shakeup on the SUP Racer World Rankings, with seven races from 12 months ago expiring and being dropped this week, while three new events were added. Having 10 different races come and go in a single week makes this by far the most volatile leaderboard update ever…

Indeed, the men’s Top 100 resembles a game of Snakes & Ladders, with many paddlers rising or falling by a long way. There’s a few particularly unlucky athletes, such as Arthur Arutkin, who enjoyed a stellar performance in Germany but still dropped three places. That’s partly due to the tight race for the top 15 spots, but also because Arthur drops his 3rd place result from the 39.5% Barcelona World Series event from 12 months ago (the event didn’t return this year).

There’s even more carnage on the women’s Top 50. The same seven races were dropped from the women’s rankings this week, however there was only one elite-level race to replace them, the SUP World Cup. Check out the latest SUP Racer World Rankings to see where everyone’s currently at.
