Morgan Hoesterey and Mo Freitas have put in a good pre-BOP workout by claiming the SurfRace To Victory @ Huntington Beach today. Punchy surf and the famous blue crash helmets made for some entertaining SUP racing, while a strong contingent of Californian and international paddlers, in town early for the Battle, set a high standard.

Local Brennan Rose claimed second in the men’s final, while also impressing were the two Arthurs from France; Arutkin and Daniel, who’ve been on a tear in Europe the past six months and could surprise a few people at the Battle of the Paddle.

Unfortunately the event clashed with the epic Water Warrior race an hour to the South, which meant the big names were split between the two events. Though having too many SUP races is certainly a luxury problem…
