The 2013 Race The Lake of the Sky was held at Lake Tahoe on the weekend, with beautiful weather and tonnes of paddlers making the second annual event a success.

The weekend kicked off with the El Dorado 5 Miler, where Thomas Maximus claimed line honours in a time of 57 minutes 33 seconds. Jay Wild was the fastest of the 14 footers, coming in a few minutes later and very narrowly defeating Anthony Vela, while Candice Appleby took out the women’s race ahead of up-and-coming Floridian Bailey Rosen.

Slater Trout, despite some obvious distractions, took out the SUP Cross race from Taylor Rambo, while Candice once again triumphed in the women’s event.

In Sunday’s Emerald Bay 14.3 Miler, Maximus and his trusty unlimited board proved too strong again, with the Riviera team rider finishing in just under two and a half hours. Candice opted to race prone on Day Two, which left the door open for Bailey to take the win in the women’s race. Day One winner Jay Wild had to settle for 2nd in the 14 foot division though, as Brandon Rambo put in a solid effort and finished 36 seconds clear of the Tahoe local.
