[VIDEO] 50 Knot Gale Force Downwinder In South Africa

Stand Up Paddling in South Africa is known for one thing: Downwinders. Or rather, Stand Up Paddling in Cape Town, South Africa, is known for downwinding. The city gets battered by regular trade winds that just happen to run parallel to the coast, giving paddlers an easy run straight off the beach.

If you’ve followed Peter Petersen’s South Africa updates, including the PRIMI Naish Downwind Dash Series, then you would have seen how good it can be. However this video might just be the windiest Cape Town downwinder yet: 50 knot gale force winds that were gusting so hard it was, as you can see above, difficult to even hold onto your board on the beach.

Enjoy.
