Scharbeutz: Espe and Duna claim another one-two finish, Spanish duo cement status as world’s best

In brief: Espe Barreras has made it two wins in two weeks to continue her utter dominance of this year’s Euro Tour, once again vanquishing her nearest rival and compatriot Duna Gordillo — this time on the shores of Scharbeutz in northern Germany.

While the Spanish duo seem to be in a league of their own the battle to join them on the podiums is heating up — young Italian warrior Cecilia Pampinella nailed another podium ahead of the plucky Swiss Miss Anna Tschirky and former world number one Fiona Wylde who continues her injury-meets-reality comeback.

With the major Euro Tour stops won and run for another summer (though there are still four more regional events to come) I’d say we’ll have to wait until Pattaya in November to see the top athletes face off against each other again. And what a fascinating battle the women’s podium shall be…
