Check out this awesome footage of the French SUP Race Championships from last weekend.

There were some seriously solid waves hitting the coastline of Crozon, on France’s West Coast, which meant plenty of chaos and carnage. This video is from the “Beach Race”, which was basically a Battle of the Paddle-style race in-and-out through the surf. Didier Leneil and Olivia Piana survived the carnage better than the rest to take out the men’s and women’s races respectively (full race results).

My favourite sequence is around the 9 minute 50 second mark, where Didier Leneil survives a foamy double-up that swallows up race-leader Eric Terrien. It looks like that was the decisive moment of the race…
