[RESULTS] Swiss SUP Championships

As we’ve seen all year, Stand Up Paddle racing is exploding in Europe. There’s big races every weekend, from the hotspots of France, Germany, Spain and the UK to the “minnows” such as Sweden, Norway, Austria and pretty much every other European country you can think of.

This weekend it was Switzerland’s turn, with the 2012 Swiss SUP Championships being held at Preverenges Beach on the shores of Lake Geneva.

The event was organised by ASSUP (Association Swiss Stand Up Paddle) and drew close to 50 of the country’s fastest paddlers.

Defending Swiss SUP Champion Steeve Fleury – who represented Switzerland at February’s ISA World SUP Championships – dominated the action to take out both the Long Distance 1okm race and the shorter Beach Race. While in the women’s races Samantha Schmidt took the title of Swiss SUP Champion for 2012.

Check out the full race results below and check back soon for more pics of the action. Apparently the races were held in beautiful sunny conditions with the spectacular surrounds of Lake Geneva providing a stunning backdrop.
